Though the night may teem with terror and shudder with storms of lightening, this wool and silk blanket scarf will remind you of the light. Wrap yourself in the silken equivalent of a bonfire raging with passion.
Handmade and dyed using the finest merino wool and silk blended roving and shimmery habotai silk this large, nuno felted blanket scarf has softness beyond words. Sure to keep you warm during those long winter nights.
This scarf measures 90 inches long by approximately 24 inches wide.
This one of a kind scarf was created using a very time intensive process called Nuno Felting. This technique is relatively new, and was developed by an Australian fiber artist named Polly Stirling in 1992. Nuno is actually the Japanese word for cloth, and the technique binds loose fibers (usually wool), into sheer fibers (like silk in this case) to create an extremely comfortably and light welt felt.
In the case of this gorgeous scarf, each piece of fabric was hand dyed by myself before binding them together into the finished product you see above!
